What does Gasgene do?
We produce low-carbon fuels and chemicals to support the energy transition and help industries achieve net zero emissions. Our Technology: Gasgene transforms waste industrial gases into low-carbon fuels, low-carbon chemicals, and novel proteins. We do this using complex chemistry techniques including bio-fermentation and gene editing. This supports the circular economy, the energy transition and net zero goals. The waste gases we utilise include carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and hydrogen. We convert these into ethanol, butanol, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and animal feed. The secret to our success is in our cutting-edge chemistry conversation technology which is a result of 15 years of lab-based research. GasGene is a spin out company from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Our technology is particularly useful for industrial facilities that need to lower their emissions. Advantages: 1. Carbon Utilisation: our technology is a form of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) 2. Circular Economy: we take waste products (industrial off-gases) and convert these into valuable low-carbon chemicals 3. Energy Security: instead of using crude oil to produce chemicals, we use waste gases (by-products from industrial processes) 1. Food Security: we grow animal protein in industrial bioreactors which reduces the need to import animal feed, grow crops on land, and utilise water Background: Gasgene is based in Nanjing, China. We are a spin out company from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a result of 15 years of laboratory research.
