What does Silkar Mining do?

Silkar Mining was established in 1990 to offer its services in natural stone production and trade. Silkar is one of the few enterprises in the world, which engages in the production of marble and mosaic all the same time aiming to serve also for large commercial projects with innovative attitude in the use of marble with a constant endeavour in this respect. In 2016, the project that has been worked with the name “light stone panel” has completed and started to be produced as AKDOLAM. The product can be described as the panels that are made by laminating thin-natural stone products onto lightweight materials. With many tests including fire rating, the product obtained various certificates. The reliability gained by these tests and the product variations for different usage areas offers a great advantage to the users. Marble is one of the oldest construction materials and is loved around the world for its unique and natural aesthetic. Yet marble’s cost, weight, and fragility have made it difficult to use in many modern architectural and design projects. AKDO’s flagship AKDOLAM marble, a lightweight, and durable honeycomb design, makes it easier to integrate marble into a greater range of projects. With its 3 factories, in Turkey and China, 6 quarries in Turkey & Greece and ability to produce marble and mosaics all together, Silkar distributes its materials to more than 35 countries and continues to lead the natural stone sector with its strong international network and its brand “AKDO”. Today AKDO, which has three state-of-the-art showrooms, including a distribution centre in California, a newly renovated showroom and operations facility in Connecticut, and a flagship showroom in Manhattan’s Flatiron district, is expanding to UK with a showroom in design and architecture district in Clerkenwell. Turkey is a powerhouse in the global marble industry, with around a quarter of all global trade in marble emanating from Turkey.
